Salisbury Plain - Rollestone Walk
Sunday 22 June, 2008
15 GSDs and 21 people enjoyed high winds, monster mud puddles and eggs and bacon during a recent WAGS walk on Salisbury Plain between Shrewton and Larkhill.

Mud!
The recent rains had left large puddles and we were well entertained by the dogs as they splished and splashed.
Splish splash!
Puddle
On rounding the far corner of a copse of trees called the The Cresent, we came across the mother of all mud puddles – a puddle that spanned the entire track, and easily a foot deep in the middle. This was dog heaven and many of the dogs ignored pleas from us and flung themselves into the depths of this superb puddle. Some wallowed in the mud, while others romped through it, slinging mud in all directions.
Hey guys, come on in. The water is fine.
Dog heaven
Great fun
A superb puddle
However, the highlight of the walk was not the walk at all, but the egg and bacon rolls that Tracy cooked by the roadside. She had a time keeping up with the orders for “more”. It averaged out to about 2 eggs and 2 bacon per person. And, as for being in the right place at the right time - two lucky dogs slurped up eggs from the ground when the high winds flipped the frying pan over!
