Pepperbox Hill
Saturday 4 April
The walk from Pepperbox Hill was well worthwhile, with lots of sunshine and a scenic route. In all, we had ten dogs with us - Izzy, Storm, Ryley, Frankie, Bailey, Toby, Molly, Max, Amber and JD.
We started from the hexagonal ‘pepperbox’ folly that sits above the carpark. The folly was built in 1606 by Giles Eyre as a lookout and to allow Mr. Eyre to look down onto his neighbours. From the folly, we headed off through woods and farmland.
On route, we passed dozens of badger sets. Some of dogs were quite curious about these earthworks and we were worried they would scurry down a tunnel to be confronted by an angry badger!
We finally found the inevitable mud puddle for the dogs to wallow in.
We followed the walk with coffee, tea and doughnuts in the car park.
