Grovely Wood Walk
Sunday 17 August, 2008
In the midst of the monsoon season, this was not a walk for the faint hearted – and, in fact, we had several ‘no-shows’.
The sky was overcast and shooting conditions were not optimum under the forest cover. However, we managed a few shots of mud and wet dog, although the pictures fail to show the depth and extent of the mud.
At times the route was treacherous and squelchy. Vehicle tracks had turned into rivers and keeping ones balance was tricky.
Molly managed to get 10 people muddy in seconds.
Amber was particularly fascinated by water. She would repeatedly slap the water and then ‘talk’ at the resulting splash.
The rain held off just long enough for us to enjoy tea with strawberries and cream. And then – we all went home to put our clothes in the washing machine.
Needless to say, Storm, Izzy, Amber, Max, Joe, Molly and Molly all agreed that the mud made the day!
Next walk - September 7th. As we’ve had the monsoons in August, we’re hoping for an Indian Summer in September. Location to be decided.
