Saturday
For a change, it didn’t rain!
Just for a day, the Dorset coast was warm and sunny and Molly spent the afternoon on the beach.
Molly has never met a stranger and she stopped to greet everyone on the beach. As a full-grown German Shepherd, she was not always warmly received.
One man waved a spade at her. As Molly circled his sandcastle, he shouted at me, “Why don’t you control ‘it’?” Molly didn’t touch his sandcastle, but she did jump at the spade as he waved it around her head. It made me smile.
At first, Molly was intimidated by the waves because they chased her up the beach. But, after a while, they no longer scared her and she followed them back into the sea.
As the light turned gold and we headed back to the car along the cliff top, we had great views of Christchurch harbour. I had to put the lead on Molly several times, as she looked keen to dive off the cliff.

We stopped at the Hiker Café and I paid a whopping £1.80 for a small cup of coffee. As if to apologise for the price, they offered Molly a free bowl of water!
Back on the beach, Molly attached herself to a boy and his dog. For the next hour, the three of them chased in and out of the sea.
At dark, I put a tired and salty dog in the car and we headed home.
