New Arrivals
Gretel and Ice
Dogs Trust, Salisbury have two new arrivals that are looking for a home – Gretel, a two-year-old GSD and Ice, a one-year-old GSD/Husky mix.
Gretel
Although the dogs came in separately, they have formed a friendship. They seem to play on equal terms and like each other’s company. For this reason, it would be ideal for them to be placed together in a new home.
However, given the size of these dogs and their lack of previous training, this may not be possible. They will require an experienced owner who has the time and dedication to give them a decent home life that includes lots of exercise and training sessions.
Ice
As both dogs are still very young, they have loads of potential as far as trainability. Gretel seems to respond to some simple commands, but she does not respond to her name, which leaves open the possibility of choosing a new name for her. Ice responds to his name, but clearly needs some formal training. He seems eager to respond to all attention from people and would most likely adapt easily and enjoy some training sessions. He has an amazingly loud bark and typically excitable behaviour for a one-year-old pup.
Ice
Gretel and Ice were brought into Dogs Trust through no fault of their own. Both previous owners no longer had the time required for a large breed dog – one due to illness and the other due to extended working hours.
Another resident of Dogs Trust Salisbury is 7-year-old Bud. We met Bud in a previous article. Dogs Trust never destroy a healthy dog and Bud is still patiently waiting for a suitable home.
Bud
Bud came bounding out to meet me and, just as the last time we met, he captivated me. He is a most tactile, delightful, and intelligent German Shepherd Dog. He transmits enthusiasm through his keen greeting and playful manner and his eyes sparkle when he senses treats are at hand.
Bud
Bud identifies totally with people and does not like other dogs. He is a strong, gentle giant that needs a home where he can be the only pet.
Bud, Gretel and Ice are all staying at the Salisbury Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre in Newton Tony and would love to meet you. If you feel you could help them find a home, please make contact.
